Some time ago, received these prototype photos from Paul David. Dolls and hairstyles are different on the actual production versions but the fashions seem be final samples. The actual dolls all have their hair pulled back into a low ponytail and curled under into a bun.
The red formal is here modeled by China Doll Candi. The final doll is asian, too. Actually, she has a new facial screening, blue side-glance eyes, red lips, and just a hint of greenish eyeshadow.
Misty Melon Candi Girl has golden & brown eyes and rose lips that match her outfit perfectly. She is my second favorite Candi Girl. (My favorite is Best Dress Candi Girl below and third is 1996 Christmas Candi. Which one is your favorite? :-)
This prototype has the hispanic mold and black hair. The final doll has red hair, green eyes, and pink lips. The lips are outlined with a darker shade of pink which gives her a very unusual facial expression. Pencil and sheet of paper are not included but hat, sunglasses, bracelet, and purse are.
The final doll has the hispanic mold with greenish-blue eyes. On my doll, the hair is a little thin on the forehead. Otherwise, I am very font of this face.
The actual production doll has the Swedish head mold and
platinum blonde hair with green / violet eyes, hot pink lips, and
a beauty mark. I wish her hair was a little fuller on the forehead.
There is a pink turtleneck under the suit and pink (not black)
marabou trim on the hat. The golden suit is fully lined in hot pink,
even the pants are. The shopping bag is not included but she carries
a hexagon-shaped hat box.
While I appreciate that the outfit is well-made, I am somewhat
tired of hot pink (after 15 years of collecting fashion
dolls. ;-)
Best Dress Candi Girl has the new Danish head mold with brown eyes, red lips, and a beauty mark. Her lip color coordinates with the hat and the red lining of the handbag. Her outfit is made of black velvet and white satin. Red accents (hat, lining of handbag, and shoes) add spice. I think this is the best doll Hamilton Design Systéme has done so far.
BTW: MiKelman Candi Girls (and some of the other dolls) are also available nude in clear plastic baggies at a bargain price ($12). These are great to redress. I saw them in Paul David's catalog but other dealers might have them, too. There is even a brunette version of Confetti Candi that is available nude only.
