Candi Girl Makeovers
Mark Middendorf
Mark Middendorf has been sewing for Bar*ie dolls since 1989. His
costumized fashion doll designs have become quite popular with
collectors since. Mark is probably best known for his rerooted, long
hair male fashion dolls in fantasy, winged costumes. He is one of the
artists featured in Jim
Faraone's book, "Fashion Doll Makeovers".
Here are some of Mark's Candi Girl designs:
- Blue Bubblecut Duo
Hispanic Candi Girl (and Disney Kokoum) in blue wigs. At first look,
Candi's outfit seems to be a one-piece suit but in fact, she wears a
lycra / spandex print halter dress, go-go boots, bolero jacket, and
gloves. Have you seen the wonderful hat box? Kokoum's outfit has
been designed by Mark, too.
- Glacier
Asian Candi girl rerooted and redressed in a white taffeta sheath.
She has gloves and a lined acrylic fur stole so she won't get too
cold at the glacier. ;-)
- Fauve
Confetti Candi Girl dresses up in hot pink and neon lime. I love
the way the large scale fabric pattern is used on the doll. The
lime "flames" are arranged vertically at the top and swirl at the
bottom to suggest movement.

- C.J.
Mark added a blue streak to this blonde hispanic Candi Secrets doll
and designed an outfit that matches her original makeup blue &
violet eyes. She wears a Lycra halter dress, gloves, and a fake fur
stole.

- Suited Miss
Guess which doll is this? It's hispanic Candi Girl dyed black!
She has her original black hair and makeup but her eyes are
repainted teal. This little Miss is dressed up for fall with her
houndstooth knit jacket and wrap skirt plus red knit bodysuit
and boots.
